  • Overview

USP <795> is the standard for non-sterile compounding. Compliance with these standards is important for not only regulatory compliance but also patient safety. There are considerable changes in the new standards that will impact all pharmacies that compound non-sterile preparations. A six-month grace period is provided for pharmacies to comply with the new standards, thus it will be imperative for pharmacy practitioners to quickly learn about these new standards, conduct internal assessments of practice policies and procedures for needed updates, and implement these changes before the deadline of December 1, 2019. Practitioners may not be aware of the recent standard update or the pending deadline. Additionally, some practitioners may not fully understand the new changes and potential strategies to successfully implement these changes in practice.
