    Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is estimated to affect approximately 10% of the population in the United States. This means that roughly 2 million people are affected by CKD. Numerous complications can develop in these patients, including anemia. Anemia can have a profound effect on a patient's quality of life and is an important complication to address in this patient population.
