  • Overview

The medical term for stroke is cerebrovascular accident (CVA). It involves the sudden death of brain cells due to deprivation of oxygen and nutrients and is caused by obstruction of blood flow in an artery or rupture of an artery in the brain. Pharmacists may not be actively involved with patient care regarding stroke; however, it IS an area where we can provide invaluable service by counseling patients and their families.
