  • Overview

Functional dyspepsia is a disorder of the upper digestive tract that results in significant painful symptoms. Many lifestyle changes, supplements, medical foods, and prescription medications can be tried to manage this condition but none are FDA approved. Patients frequently seek self treatment for this condition but may think they have GERD. Pharmacists are ideally positioned to provide appropriate counseling on the management of functional dyspepsia.
