Professional identity formation (PIF) is the process by which students or trainees not only become competent but additionally learn how to “think, act, and feel” like a health professional. An important element in this identity formation is considering diversity, equity, and inclusion in the formation of professional values and norms to enhance practitioners cultural humility & awareness to patients and within professions. It is important to better understand yourself and your identity to help you better understand your own views and how they may be similar or different to others and to create an inclusive culture.
