Basic pharmacology knowledge is important for technicians for many reasons. Tech roles are continuing to expand to include more clinical opportunities. By understanding pharmacology basics, pharmacy technicians can contribute more meaningfully to the healthcare team, improving patient outcomes and the overall efficiency of pharmacy operations. Hypertension is one of the most common disease states in the US. In this program, we will review the pharmacology of key antihypertensive drug classes, including identifying common drugs, reviewing the mechanism of action, and evaluating clinical considerations within those drug classes.
