This course provides pharmacists with the knowledge and skills to effectively manage patient weight. It covers the basics of obesity, appropriate pharmacotherapy, lifestyle interventions, and effective patient counseling techniques. By the end of this course, pharmacists will be equipped to help patients with obesity achieve and maintain a healthy weight.

The Food and Drug Administration has approved almost 50 novel drugs in 2024! This fast-paced presentation will review the indication for each approved medication, its role in therapy, common adverse effects, and drug interactions. New drug alerts or trends that arose during 2024 will also be discussed. Participants will also learn about new medications that are expected to be significant in 2025!

Adverse medication reactions (AMRs) continue to be a burden on our healthcare systems and more importantly on the quality of life for the patients under our care. Providing accurate documentation of our patients’ AMRs is an essential component of patient care. This program is intended to identify tools that pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and nurses can utilize to identify potential AMRs. Additionally, AMRs are evaluated including those resulting from drug-drug interactions, demonstrating the value of medication reconciliation.

COPD is a chronic disease that affects ~10% of individuals 40+ years old in the US. Pharmacists are in an excellent position to provide education, counseling, and management. This program will include an update of the guidelines and clinical pearls regarding inhaler education.
