From the Poison Control Files: Cannabis Emergencies
Taught by: James Leonard, PharmD, DABAT | Premiering: 5/15/23 8:00 PM ET
Medical and recreational cannabis laws are evolving and legal access to cannabis has expanded. This has correlated with increased hospital visits by both children and adults either due to exploratory ingestions or accidental overdose.
The toxidromes are different in children and adults and overlap with other medical conditions. Healthcare providers should be aware of the factors in both children and adults that could lead to acute cannabis poisoning.
Webinar participants will learn how to:
- Describe the epidemiology of cannabis poisoning in children.
- Identify factors in adults that result in hospital visits after using cannabis.
- Given a case, identify symptoms of acute cannabis poisoning and potential treatments in children
