Pharmacist, Pharmacy Technicians
Program Overview:
Gout is commonly misdiagnosed condition; it can also go completely undiagnosed. When gout is diagnosed, treatment often can be suboptimal because of errors in selecting the most appropriate medication. In addition, consideration of comorbidities is a major part of selecting an appropriate medication. Pharmacists can play a key role in alleviating these shortcomings by providing valuable counseling on topics such as lifestyle modifications and prevention of gout. Once gout has been diagnosed, the pharmacist can provide counseling about managing comorbidities, drug contraindications, and general safety issues. This educational program will help close the educational gaps and improve pharmacist knowledge about the management of gout and hyperuricemia.
